Big Government Blues

Big Government Blues

When I woke up this morning, everything I had was gone
When I woke up this morning, everything I had was gone
Turned on the TV and saw Uncle Sam gave away the farm

There was no warning, no shots fired or signs of rain
There was no warning, no shots fired or signs of rain
Our blood was spilled before we even felt the pain

He took my first born, and I thought that he was through
He took my first born, and I thought that he was through
But then he came back and took his first born too!

The rich get richer and the poor pay the expense
The rich get richer and the poor pay the expense
And Uncle Sam he stands and referees all the events

My uncle told me this was needed for my health
My uncle told me this was needed for my health
Only he could decide how to redistribute wealth

He said don’t worry he’d pay with money saved
He said don’t worry he’d pay with money saved
I swear my uncle will put me in an early grave

I told my uncle, for himself a man’s got to decide
I told my uncle, for himself a man’s got to decide
I don’t need no one to take me for a ride

You know, It don’t matter what all the people say
You know, It don’t matter what all the people say
Only your Uncle knows how to bring you better days

Well I’m still waiting to get my mojo hand
Well I’m still waiting to get my mojo hand
While pain and suffering is spreading across the land

And now I’m now wondering where would we all be
And now I’m now wondering where would we all be
If only Uncle Sam had just, let me live my life free!
